My miniTED(miniKEY) is finally over. miniTED is the mini presentation to share/talk something you want in IRIS Digital. I did mine on last Friday.

Invitation card: I made the invitation card with augmented reality(AR) technology, everyone get the details of my miniTED through the site. But I haven’t told them what my miniTED is about. They start to guess or think it’s about AR/technology. Actually it’s nothing to do with it but me and my polaroid. When they hold the card to the webcam it looks like they are holding a polaroid photo.

MiniKEY aniamtion : I created a short animation and let minKEY(a character of me) to speak for me. It present the history of polaroid also my 9 years polaroid life.

Photo showcase: After the animation everyone can see my photos in boardroom. All photos (750) are placed on the the big massive table for everyone to look at it. With the labels behind each photos ppl can know where/when did I take the photos.

For anyone who knows it for years, dtop laughing at me. I just found out this awesome visualizer from iTunes. Simply Ctrl+T or Apple+T wnen you are in. The cool thing is, if you play different song it shows completely different of random visual. I hab\ve been watching at the screen for 2 hours. It’s just AWESOME!

UNIQLO always has wonderful online campaign, but not much of them really gets me until the latest campaign which is called: TOKYO FASHION MAP under UNIQLO PARKA STYLE 1000 project.

They found people on street from different areas around Tokyo. Each of them are given 1-2 pieces of UNIQLO product to put on as a street model. The best thing is they pick those who can represent that area like in GINZA which is an historic MEIJI-ERA town known for it’s elegant, glamorous and conservative style. So they pick all OL girls who can show the characteristic of GINZA. It’s not just an online campaign but also showing different style in different areas in Tokyo.

It’s worth to have a look for the people in AKIHABARA. :)

vectorpark has a new interactive animation live.

Wallace & Gromit came to IRIS this morning to show their work. They are created by Aardman who came to show us all the great aniamtions including the actual model of Wallace & Gromit.

Wallace, he has been abused by us for an hour, see the fingerprint all over his face.

Gromit, check his eyes, there are 2 tiny holes so animator uses a toothpick to rotate the eyeballs.

At last, me and the sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep

No matter you are gamer or not, you must know the block falling game - Tetris. Goolge celebrates the 25th anniverary of it by “blocking” up its logo. The game was created by Alexey Pajitnov, a computer engineer who was working for the Computing Centre of the Soviet Academy of Sciences in 1984. He chose the name Tetris by combining the words “tennis”, his favourite sport, and “tetra”, a Greek prefix.

Rockband - EA’s music game now rocks on Beatles songs. This opening cinematic is one of the best game video in 2009 with great art direction brings you back to 70s. The combination of 2D characters and 3D objects creates such a fantasy scene with all animations synchronize with the song. It’s ashame in game graphic don’t follow the same style but more 3D cartoony style.

Official site(with game trailer):

It is always hard to form a logo with everything clients want to say. Some clevers came up with something really push it to the top.

B(Top left)
B.. Bee and B, everything fits.

Concealed Logo(Middle top)
I didn’t see the dove in the first place but after I realize it I find it;s a really nice idea and well use of negative space.

Mamouth(Top right)
Nice colour also graphical treatment for the mamouth head, but people may spell mamouth wrong from now on.

Minimum(Bottom left)
A sequence of wave which combines ‘m’, ‘i’, ‘u’, ‘n’, it reads funny but it does get people talk about it.

Schizophrenic(Middle bottom)
:(: reminds me the old logo of Mac OS. Schizophrenic also means mental disorder with split personalities shows clearly from the logo but in internet language.

Newman(Bottom right)
We have seen so man logos with flipping characters. Newman logo shows the new way to mirror the characters. Clever and nice.

Free Range 2009 book

Free Range 2009 Graduate Art & Design Summer Shows started last week in The Old Brewery, Brick Lane. Free Range started since 2002, I joined in my final year in 2004.  It is a only chance for all south London art & design graduates to show their work hoping to get in to the industry.

GDNM show 2009

Here is the corner of Graphic Design: New Media (GDNM) from University of Creative Arts (It was called Surry Insitute of Art & Design when I studied there). Same old with loads of different mixed stuff but seems lacking of eyes catching work. Maybe new media is too broad for student to understand so after 3-4 years studies they end up going back to basic - purely graphic design with branding and illustration. To me new media should be blending the graphic work with new technology. Hope they do better next year.
